Ms. Sullivan strives to bring learning alive with a great deal of laughter and joy through engaging academics, a safe, joyful, and inclusive environment where all students have a sense of belonging and significance.
At the heart, of her teaching, she implements Responsive Classroom, Mindfulness, and Yoga methods. Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching that focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness. This fosters safe and joyful learning communities where students develop strong social and academic skills where every student can thrive. Through the workshop approach in reading, writing, and math, students apply their developing skills as problem solvers and critical thinkers preparing them for the challenges ahead.
After spending 20 years abroad working at an International School in Rome, Italy, Ms. Sullivan repatriated back to the United States and enjoys working in the vibrant multicultural community of Jersey City.
Ms. Sullivan is an avid reader and loves to travel. She has two college-age sons who keep her busy.
Ms. Sullivan and her husband spend their weekends in the Catskills with where they are restoring their 1800's farmhouse.
