Mrs. Dennis joined the OLC School community in 2016 as the 4th grade math and science teacher. This year she will be serving as the Mathematics teacher for 8th grade, the small group Math teacher for the Upper School, as well as the school’s Math Coach. Though she wears many hats, Mrs. Dennis is excited to be supporting so many students, families, and teachers in these roles.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Dennis attended Brooklyn College as part of their CUNY Honors College, graduating with a B.A in Childhood Education in 2006, and a Master’s degree in Childhood Mathematics Education in 2009. Before coming to OLC, Mrs. Dennis worked in New York City Public Schools, as well as at schools in Chatham, Glen Rock, and Montclair. Guided by her passion for math, she also worked as an Interpreter at the National Museum of Mathematics.
Mrs. Dennis has a passion for math, and strongly believes that it can be fun, engaging, and accessible for all students. She partners with students to build relationships and encourages them to develop a Growth Mindset, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in whatever challenges they encounter.
